Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Dizem que jogar capoeira
Mas o mestre é o melhor
Mas o que eu quero saber
É quem matou meu curió
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Ê procurei nas Alagoas
Bem depois de Maceió
Procurei lá na Bahia
Cachoeira e Itororó
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Dizem que a lua tem segredos
Mas quem sabe é o clarão do Sol
Se ela não me responder
Eu vou perguntar ao meu berimbau
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Ê sei que todo Marinheiro
Tem que desatar o nó
Mas o que eu quero saber
É quem matou meu curió
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Ê eu vou procurar sozinho
O rastro do curió
Sei quem tem fé em Deus
Nesta vida não tá só
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
Mas eu vou…
Eu vou encontrar só
Canarinho da Alemanha
Quem matou meu curió
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
They say to play capoeira
But the master is the best
But what I want to know
Is who killed my curió
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
Ê I searched in Alagoas
Well after Maceió
I searched there in Bahia
Cachoeira and Itororó
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
They say the moon has secrets
But who knows is the sunlight
If she doesn’t answer me
I will ask my berimbau
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
Ê I know every Sailor
Has to untie the knot
But what I want to know
Is who killed my curió
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
Ê I will search alone
The trail of the curió
I know who has faith in God
In this life is not alone
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
But I’m going…
I’m going to find
Canarinho da Alemanha
the one who killed my curió
Did you know?
Bahia
Bahia, particularly its capital Salvador and the surrounding Recôncavo region, is the historical and cultural birthplace of capoeira in Brazil.
Salvador was founded in 1549 and served as a major port for the transatlantic slave trade, bringing millions of West and Central Africans to the region.
Berimbau
- The berimbau is a single-string musical bow of African origin that functions as the absolute leader and commander of the roda.
- The instrument dictates the exact speed, stylistic tone, and combat intensity of the capoeiristas through specific rhythms known as toques.
- A traditional berimbau is constructed from a wooden staff, a steel wire, a hollowed gourd resonator, a small stone or coin, a bamboo shaker, and a wooden thin stick.
- In a traditional orchestra, three distinct pitches are used: the deep-toned gunga to lead the group, the medium médio to hold the rhythm, and the high-pitched viola to improvise.
- Enslaved Africans historically used the live music of the bow to camouflage their outlawed martial art, making the training look like an innocent dance to colonial authorities.
- Today, the instrument holds a sacred status within the art, and capoeiristas show immense reverence toward it, celebrating its spiritual voice in countless traditional songs.
