About Mestre Panão

Mestre Panão began studying Capoeira at age 15 in the city of São Paulo in the Jaçanã neiborhood. He learned the basics with Professor Tó and later trained with Mestre Risadinha, who graduated him to professor. In 1992 Panão started Capoeira Resistência, and by this time had become popular all over São Paulo and the rest of Brazil for his work and participation in Capoeira events. In 1995 Mestre Panão came to the United States for the first time and has been in demand for workshops, batizados, events and encounters ever since. Mestre Panão has also traveled to Mexico and Canada to give workshops and participate in shows. In 2002, Mestre Panão opened his first academy outside Brasil in San Diego, California.
