About Mestre Geraldo Carvalho
Mestre Geraldo founded the Navegando Capoeira Association that was incorporated on September 6, 1988 as the Axe Brazil Academy of Capoeira in Canada. He frequented three different schools of Capoeira in Brazil before beginning to teach this sport. He has 32 years of experience, in which 25 were dedicated to teaching. During the years of 1978 and 1979, Mestre Geraldo was the coach and artistic director of Capoeira for a Brazilian Navy School contributing greatly to the cultural and sport life of that school. Mestre Geraldo is a pioneer, in the sense that he is the first to teach Capoeira in the Maritimes Region of Canada. Mestre Geraldo is also credited with founding the first school of Capoeira in Toronto in 1993. Nowadays, living in New Jersey, Mestre Geraldo continues to promote his sport among people creating a constructive environment in all classes.
